Makalu Base Camp Trek is one of the least crowded trekking package that takes you to the base of fifth highest mountain in the world which is enclosed by the scenic Makalu Barun National Park that is rich in alpine vegetation and wildlife. The park is stretched over 2330 sq. km. of an area covering parts of Solukhumbu district and Sankhuwasabha district.
Makalu Base Camp trekking demands physical strength as there will be challenges of big and small passes, rivers, forest and glaciated valleys. Hidden away from the outer world till 1952, Makalu region is rich in its unique culture. The fame of Makalu was heightened after the visit of Eric Shipton in 1952. Later, the pass was named after him as Shipton La.
Saribung Adventure offers this package as 19-days itinerary. Most of the trekkers take Makalu Base Camp Trek via Shipton La Pass. The route is scenic with views of Mount Everest, Lhotse Mountain, Chamlang Mountain, Makalu Mountain and other mountains.
After taking 50minutes of scenic Kathmandu to Tumlingtar flight, we will take jeep safari to Chichila from where trek to Makalu Base Camp begins. Trekking route progresses along Arun River and crosses Keke La and other Passes and valleys to Makalu Base Camp that is located at 5000m height.
Makalu Base Camp trekking allows opportunity to view culture prevalent in Sherpa community dwelling in Khumbu valley. March to May and September to November are best season for Makalu Base Camp trek. Contact us soon for participating in this trek at cheap cost.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
After you disembark from the plane, you will have to go through custom formalities. Later, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to hotel for your luxurious stay. You will get briefing from your tour leader. Enjoy the welcome dinner.  

Day 02: Kathmandu to Tumlingtar Flight, Drive to Chichila (1840m)
We will catch an early flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar. 50minutes of scenic flight above mountains will take us to small airport in Tuumlingtar. Once landing at Tumlingtar, we will take a jeep ride for about 3hrs via gravel road to Chichila where we will stay overnight.  

Day 03: Chichila to Num (1500m)
Makalu Base Camp Trek begins from Chichila which is the culturally rich Gurung village. The trail continues through the forested path with scenic views of mountains to take us to Num. We will stay overnight in Num.  

Day 04: Num to Seduwa (1540m)
Following the descending trail from Num, we will arrive at crop fields. Moving further through the crop fields, we will reach to the bank of Barun River. Crossing the river, we will choose the escalating trail to the point where Makalu Barun National Park initiates. We will show our trekking permits to the officers and head to Seduwa. 

Day 05: Seduwa to Tashigaon (2070m)
Leaving Seduwa, we will climb to the top of ridge which is encircled by Ipsuwa and Kasuwa Rivers. We will pass through rice fields to Tashi Gaon village which welcomes us with spectacular mountain views. Stay overnight at Tashigaon.    

Day 06: Tashigaon to Khongma (3560m)
The trail progresses through the forested area to river. Crossing the river, we will reach to the top of ridge. We will walk through the meadow and follow stone steps to another ridge from where we will descend to Khongma Hill. 

Day 07: Khongma to Debotay (3650m) via Shipton La
We will leave Khongma hill and walk to the base of Shipton La Pass. Climbing to the top of Shipton La Pass, we will move further to Kalo Pokhari which means Black Lake. Journey continues through Keke La Pass to Debotay valley where we will stay overnight. 

Day 08: Debotay to Yangle Kharka (3600m)
Leaving Debotay early in the morning, we will cross rhododendron forest and walk through Barun River to the scenic valley. We will follow the narrow path for few hours before arriving at Yangle Kharka where we will stay overnight.

Day 09: Yangle Kharka to Merek (4500m)
Yangle Kharka is a heavenly place used for cattle grazing by people inhabited in the nearby villages. Yangle Kharka offers spectacular views of surrounding landscape. We will leave Yangle Kharka and walk through the escalating path to Merek where we will stay overnight.

Day 10: Merek to Shersong
Leave Merek early in the morning after breakfast and walk through the pleasant path along pasture land and fields to Shersong which is located much near to Makalu Base Camp. We can get close up look of south eastern face of Makalu Mountain from Shersong. Stay overnight at Shersong.

Day 11: Shersong to Makalu Base Camp (5000m)
Leave Shersong and walk through glaciated path to Makalu Base Camp. Makalu Base Camp offers panoramic views of mountains in Nepal including Lhotse Mountain and Everest Mountain. Stay overnight at Makalu Base Camp. 

Day 12: Makalu Base Camp to Yangle Kharka
We begin our return trip on this day as we have reached our ultimate destination. We will lower down from Makalu Base Camp. The trail stretches through Shersong and Merek to the valley. Lowering down from the valley, we will reach Yangle Kharka where we will stay overnight.

Day 13: Yangle Kharka to Mumbuk
Yangle Kharka is the pasture land where cattle can be seen grazing in this field. Follow the descending trail from Yangle Kharka and follow the rock strewn path to Mumbuk where we will stay overnight.

Day 14: Mumbuk to Khongma
Leaving Mumbuk early in the morning, we will walk through verdant forest of rhododendron and fir and reach base of Keke La Pass. We will climb Keke La and reach Shipton La from where we need to cross yet another pass named Ghungru La to reach Khongma where we will stay overnight.

Day 15: Khongma to Tashigaon
Follow the descending trail from Khongma Hill to reach the base of hill. The path gradually drops down to Tashigaon village which is inhabited by Sherpa people. Stay overnight at Tashigaon. 

Day 16: Tashigaon to Num
Early in the morning, we will leave Tashigaon village and exit from the forested area of Makalu Barun Camp. The trail progresses along Arun River to Seduwa. We need to cross the forest and walk through valley to reach Num where we will stay overnight. 

Day 17: Num to Tumlingtar via Chichila
We will enjoy the final view of Makalu Mountain from Chichila before continuing our journey to Tumlingtar. We will stay overnight in Tumlingtar.  

Day 18: Tumlingtar to Kathmandu Flight
We will take an early morning flight from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu. You will be transferred to hotel. You can spend the day on your own. Utilize your leisure time by shopping in Thamel.

Day 19: Departure
You will be dropped off at Tribhuvan International Airport approximately 3hours before your flight. Have a safe journey. We hope to see you soon.
