Participating in Mustang Damodar Kunda Lake Trek is the pleasant activity that takes you in the remote Upper Mustang region which is rich in culture, festivals, rituals and ancient monasteries. Damodar Kunda is most sacred lake for Hindus where great fare is organized on full moon day of august.
Upper mustang region is the must-visit site where time has stood still. Visit Mustang to see primitive lifestyle. Lo Manthang is the ultimate jewel of Upper Mustang. The trekking route follows geographical terrains that interweaves through sandstone pillars and moraine terraces. You will be rewarded with close-up views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and other peaks and mountains throughout the journey.  
Saribung Adventure organizes Mustang Damodar Kunda Lake Trekking itinerary in a way that it can be completed in just 19days. Enter Mustang region from Kagbeni after taking stunning flight from Pokhara to Jomsom. The journey continues along the edge of Kaligandaki River that is popular for its ammonites (Shaligram). Pass through culturally rich villages of Chele and Gilling to Lo Manthang. Visit Monasteries and head to Damodar Kunda from Thanti. Explore around holy Damodar Kunda and proceed through Tetang to Muktinath Temple. Return to Jomsom from Muktinath and catch Jomsom Pokhara flight. Return to Kathmandu from Pokhara and Damodar Kunda Lake trek concludes.
This is the restricted area trekking that requires special trekking permit from government. We will make complete arrangement for permit. Damodar Kunda Lake trekking is possible throughout the year because the region exists in the rain shadow of huge Mountains and does not receive rainfall.

Day 03: Pokhara to Jomsom Flight, Trek to Kagbeni (2800m)
Day 04: Kagbeni to Chele (3100m)
Day 05: Chele to Gilling (3700m)
Day 06: Gilling to Tsarang (3800m)
Day 07: Tsarang to Lo-Manthang (3840m) via Ghar Gompa
Day 08: Lo-Manthang to Yara (3900m)
Day 09: Acclimatization Day
Day 10: Yara to Thanti (4890m)
Day 11: Thanti to Damodar Kunda (5400m)
Day 12: Damodar Kunda to Yara (3900m)
Day 13: Yara to Tangye (3240m)
Day 14: Tangye to Tetang (3040m)
Day 15: Tetang to Muktinath
Day 16: Muktinath to Jomsom (2750m)

Day 18: Pokhara to Kathmandu
Day 19: Departure.
Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival
After you disembark from the plane, you will have to go through custom formalities. Later, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to hotel for your luxurious stay. You will get briefing from your tour leader. Enjoy the welcome dinner.

Day 02: Drive / fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820m)
Leave Kathmandu from Thankot checkpoint and follow Prithvi Highway for 5hrs to Pokhara. The journey will be scenic with views of Trishuli River, cable car, green hills and Marsyangdi River. Stay overnight in Pokhara. 

Day 03: Pokhara to Jomsom Flight, Trek to Kagbeni (2800m)
Take20 minutes of scenic flight from Pokhara to Jomsom which is the district headquarters of Mustang. Assemble th crew and begin your trek. You will be greeted with views of Nilgiri Mountain, Dhaulagiri Mountain, Tukuche peak and Dhampus peak. Kagbeni is the entry point for Upper Mustang. Stay overnight in a camp at Kagbeni.

Day 04: Kagbeni to Chele (3100m)
Move along the eastern edge of Kaligandaki River. Head north and follow the ascending trail to Tangbe Village. Walk through the narrow alleys amongst white washed houses and barley fields to Chhusang village. We can get view of Nilgiri peak throughout the way. Crossing the river, we will climb north and exit Kaligandaki valley. Climb to Chele for overnight stay. 

Day 05: Chele to Gilling/ Gheling (3700m)
Leave Chele and follow the ascending trail to small pass. We will move through less vegetation area where tree can be seen at sparse. Climb further through the pass for brief period before taking sharp descent to Samar village. Walk through the path lined with chorten and get views of Annapurna and Nilgiri Mountain to the south. Climb further from Samar and pass through caverns and ridges. Descend from the ridge to Gheling.    

Day 06: Gilling to Tsarang/ Charang (3800m)
Follow the ascending trail to Nyila Pass. Lower down and follow the straight path to steel bridge of the Tangmar Chu River. Walk along path lined with Mani walls and climb yet another pass located at 3600m altitude. Descend from the pass to Charang/Tsarang. There exists five – story white Dzong and red Gompa in Charang.

Day 07: Tsarang to Lo-Manthang (3840m) via Ghar Gompa
Lower down from Tsarang to arrive at Charang Chu River. Crossing the river, follow the rocky trail up to the cairn on a ridge. Reach to the top of ridge to get the view of the walled city of Lo. Lower down from the ridge and cross small stream to make it to Lo Manthang. There exists Thugchen Gompa and Chyodi Gompa in Lomanthang.

Day 08: Lo-Manthang to Yara (3900m)
Leaving Lo Manthang, about 3hrs of walk through the ascending trail will take us to Dhi village. An hour of descend will take us to the edge of small river. We will make brief ascend to Yara village where we will stay overnight in a tented camp.

Day 09: Acclimatization Day
This is a rest day. Spend the day as you like. There is no fixed plan. Take photo-shoot. Explore nearby monastery. Write a diary. 

Day 10: Yara to Thanti (4890m)
Leave Yara and follow the ascending trail to Luri Cave Monastery. This is the oldest monastery in Mustang region. Walking past Luri Cave Monastery, we will cross the small pass and reach Thanti for overnight stay.

Day 11: Thanti to Damodar Kunda (5400m)
The trail continues through series of ups and downs on this day. We will reach a pass located at 5600m and proceed to Damodar Kunda which is the religious lake that attracts thousands of pilgrims each year.

Day 12: Damodar Kunda to Yara (3900m)
Take bath in Damodar Kunda and retrace the route back to Yara village for overnight stay.

Day 13: Yara to Tangye (3240m)
After brief ascend, we will chase the straight path. Later, the trail drops down to Dechhyang Khola. The area is rich in Shaligrams. Shaligram is considered as one among many other forms of Lord Vishnu. Climbing the escalating trail, we will walk through the dry plateau to Tangya village. 

Day 14: Tangye to Tetang (3040m)
Leaving Tangye, we will cross suspension bridge and continue to walk along the river. From river, we will cross small pass and chase the scenic and easy trail to Paha. Climb to the top of the hill and walk through windy valley to Tetang village. Tetang offers panoramic views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri I, Tukuche and other mountains.

Day 15: Tetang to Muktinath
The trail begins along mani walls to the valley. Climb to the top of pass and get first view of Muktinath. Lower down to the Chhyongar village and walk through Kani to Muktinath. Explore 108 around the holy shrine of Muktinath and visit nearby Buddhist monastery. Enjoy the panoramic views of Nilgiri and Dhailagiri I mountains.

Day 16: Muktinath to Jomsom (2750m)
Lower down from Muktinath and reach Jharkot village. We will stop by Buddhist Monastery before continuing the journey to Eklebhatti. Walk along Kaligandaki River to Jomsom.

Day 17: Jomsom to Pokhara flight
Take 20 minutes of Jomsom Pokhara flight to reach Pokhara. Stay overnight in Pokhara.
Day 18: Pokhara to Kathmandu
Kathmandu is 200km far from Pokhara. Prithvi Highway connects Kathmandu with Pokhara. Stay overnight in hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 19: Departure
You will be dropped off at Tribhuvan International Airport approximately 3hours before your flight. Have a safe journey. We hope to see you soon.
